The skies over Tocumwal along the New South Wales-Victorian border were filled with aircraft both old and not-so-old over the weekend as the town held its inaugural airshow.
On Saturday, the local airfield played host to a number of flight displays that included jets, warbirds, bi-planes and aerobatics.
There were also aircraft on static display alongside historic vehicles, as well as children’s entertainment, market stalls and food trucks.
The line-up included the CAC Wirraway, Grumman Avenger and L-39 Albatros. There was also a formation flight of RAAF heritage training aircraft.

Tocumwal was the location of a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) station during World War Two. Between 1943 and 1944, it was the site of the RAAF No. 5 Operational Training Unit and then later No. 7 OTU.
Photographer Dave Soderstrom captured some of the highlights from the weekend below:

says:I recall an air show at Tocumwal “Toc” during the early 1970’s which had C130A’s, various Rapids and other English craft, plus long gone Warbirds.
A large collection of spares, including a truck full of hydrolics and instruments for a Mosquito build were also on site, as were vintage trucks and machinery.
Was a great weekend.
