Airservices awards more scholarships

written by australianaviation.com.au | March 23, 2010

Airservices Australia and the Australian Women Pilots’ Association (AWPA) have awarded four scholarships to young women to assist with the cost of flying training.

The four winners were announced at the AWPA annual general meeting in Ballarat on March 20, and will each receive $6000 to subsidise the cost of obtaining a private or commercial pilots licence, provided by Airservices. An additional $2000 will be awarded to the young women on achieving certain milestones.

“We are very pleased to support AWPA and its goals for women pilots in the future of Australia aviation,” said Airservices spokesman Rob Walker. “It’s important we continue to promote entry paths into the industry. Airservices congratulates all the winners, and encourages them to pursue their commercial pilot’s licence.”

The winners of the scholarships this year were Jasmine Brockdorf-Attuell of NSW, Kathryn Gibney of Queensland, Sarah Jayne Duivesteyn of SA, and Margaret Smith of WA.
