Air New Zealand has improved the earning conditions for its 1.4 million Airpoints members who will now earn Airpoints Dollars on every regularly available fare.
Earning capacity has been improved on all fares except the airline’s last-minute online fares and tickets purchased using Airpoints Dollars. This means higher earning rates on 62 per cent of all airfares. Regional, domestic and trans-Tasman travellers are better recognised, with 78 per cent of all Smart Saver and Flexi fare classes on these routes offering higher earning rates
The majority of changes will take effect on March 31 2014.
Air New Zealand passengers redeemed more than 600,000 flights during the last 12 months using Airpoints Dollars, a number that is expected to increase as a result of the changes.
The adjustments to the loyalty program mean higher earning rates for short haul travellers, while fewer Airpoints Dollars will be earned on some cheaper fares. The airline said loyalty members should find themselves earning status points towards their next tier up to 55 per cent faster.
Members of the renamed Elite membership tier (previously Gold Elite) will receive an additional complimentary upgrade each membership year for use specifically on short-haul routes across the Tasman and to the Pacific Islands.
