Air New Zealand’s 2013/2014 season of charter services to Japan is set to more than double the number of Japanese visitors to New Zealand this summer.

Between December and March the airline will operate 29 charter services to New Zealand from eight Japanese cities. Air New Zealand estimates around 6,000 Japanese visitors will experience the key tourist regions across the country, double the 14 services that carried 2,800 visitors last summer.

Twenty-two of the flights will operate direct into Christchurch, the remainder flying direct to Auckland. All 29 flights will depart New Zealand from Auckland.

The charter program will be operated by a 767-300ER, with first flights departing Osaka on December 15. The last flight will return to Japan from Auckland on the March 30.

Japan is New Zealand’s fifth largest source of inbound visitors.
