One of the two Jetstar Airbus A320s damaged when a fire suppression system triggered inside a maintenance hangar at Newcastle Airport is back in the air.
The two narrowbodies – VH-VQW and VH-VQC – were inside the hangar when the fire system tripped on April 23, filling the facility with foam.
Flight tracking website Flightaware showed VH-VQW was ferried to Melbourne at JQ7981 on Wednesday May 27, before entering revenue service as JQ560 from Melbourne to Brisbane the following day.
Meanwhile, VH-VQC, which arrived at Newcastle Airport on April 22, continues to undergo further repairs.
Jetstar said at the time of the incident it did not believe the aircraft would need significant repair works before they were returned to service.
In other Jetstar news, the Qantas-owned low-cost carrier has celebrated two years of flying to Uluru in the Northern Territory.
Since the first flight from Sydney on June 4 2013 and inaugural service from Melbourne on June 29 2014, Jetstar has carried 100,000 passengers to Uluru.
