Jetstar continues flights to Japan, adjusts Gold Coast-Tokyo route

written by australianaviation.com.au | March 23, 2011
Jetstar is maintaining its Japan schedules.

Jetstar has continued to maintain its existing flight schedule between Australia and Japan, while making a change to its daily Gold Coast to Tokyo route in the aftermath of the country’s devastating earthquake and tsunami which struck less than two weeks ago.

The airline has continued to operate its 25 weekly regular return services to Tokyo and Osaka through direct flights from Cairns and the Gold Coast. Beginning March 22, Jetstar also reverted to a daily direct service to Tokyo, while operating up to three daily return services to Osaka. Meanwhile, Jetstar is also temporarily redirecting its daily Gold Coast-Tokyo A330 service (JQ11 and JQ12) to instead operate Gold Coast-Osaka. This is expected to cause minor changes to flight timings to accommodate for connections with fast train services for Jetstar customers arriving into or departing from Kansai International Airport in Osaka, allowing onward travel to destinations including Tokyo.

Jetstar says affected customers are being contacted to make arrangements for any change of travel plans in Japan, with the airline’s alternative arrangements for travel to and from Japan remaining in place due to the current crisis situation and status of travel advisories. “Jetstar is maintaining our capacity on the Australia-Japan route whilst improving the effectiveness of our Japan flying operations at this important time,” CEO Bruce Buchanan reaffirmed.
