Jetstar has announced it will increase its schedule of flights into Launceston by 40 per cent from December.
From December 2, the airline will operate a second daily service on the Sydney-Launceston route, while from December 10 it will add another frequency to the Melbourne-Launceston route, bringing it up to four times daily. Jetstar says the services will be operated year-round and should appeal to both business and leisure travellers.

“These new low fare flights reinforce our commitment to Tasmanian tourism and mark our next sustainable step-up in growth of Jetstar operations in Launceston, a community we have proudly served since 2004 alongside Qantas,” said CEO Bruce Buchanan.
The move comes after Tiger Airways recently announced it would cut its Melbourne-Launceston flights from August 2. Tiger has also cut its Adelaide-Hobart services from August.
