The Flying Kangaroo promised the technology would be fast enough to stream movies, TV shows and live sports to users’ devices.

The funding includes support for recipients to complete additional training that focuses on the type of specialist pilot skills the aviation and tech company requires from new recruits.

The Flying Kangaroo also confirmed it would use its strong position to purchase an additional eight A321XLRs to take its future fleet of the next generation aircraft to 28.

The union, which has had a volatile relationship with the national carrier for more than a decade, said replacing Richard Goyder with John Mullen offered workers a “glimmer of hope”.

John Mullen will join the board from 1 July 2024 and has previously held directorships at Macquarie Airports and Toll Holdings.

The Flying Kangaroo said in response it was “reviewing schedules and planning contingencies” to minimise disruption to passengers.
